Get more time back: Changing from Self-Management to Plan Management

There are the obvious  benefits to self-managing an NDIS plan, such as flexibility, choice and control over the plan.

What comes with that, however, is also the time and responsibility it takes to keep records and receipts, make payments, and follow up with supports - and that’s only the start of the long to-do list.

This may only be taking you a couple of hours a week, but it adds up, and these days, time is precious.

In business, the term ‘opportunity cost’ often comes up. Simply put, this means the benefits you’re giving up by allocating your resources a certain way. For example, if you choose to purchase an item, what else could you have done with that money, and what benefit could you have gained?

The same can be said for time when comparing self-management and plan management.

What potential benefits from those couple of hours a week are you giving up by spending time self-managing an NDIS plan?

Spending time with your loved ones, researching new treatments, therapies and ways of doing things, or scrolling social media groups for idea on utilising your funding are just some of thing you could be spending extra time on without the burden of self-managing a plan.

The great news is that engaging with a good plan manager still allows you choice and control over your plan, without needing to handle all the administration yourself.

Maintaining that choice and control, while at the same time giving you back a few hours in your week, is ‘win-win’.

The other great news is that adding a budget for plan management doesn’t eat away at your plan funds; it sits on top of other funding, and can be an easy matter to have it added.

Just think what could you do in those extra hours?

There are many other benefits to having a good plan manager in your corner; however, putting some time back into your week has to be top of the list.
